Our Therapeutic Groups Provide Alternative Provision with a Therapeutic Focus
THIS GROUP IS NOT CURRENLTY RUNNING
These groups are aimed at young people who have had adverse childhood experiences; those with atypical neurodevelopment or mental health difficulties.
Children can access the group for a half day (10am -12 noon) or a full school day (10am-2.30pm). Young people are supported one to one by a member of our team which will be, as far as possible, the same person each week.
Some of our longer term attenders have ‘graduated’ from our main groups to join our FOLA (Forest and Outdoor Learning) group where they can further build their skills with less intensive support.
Please get in touch for more details about availabily and pricing.
We work through building relationships and these relationships become the vehicle for change…
WE EXPECT CHANGE TO HAPPEN OVER TIME and whilst our minimum booking is for one term, children with long term difficulties are likely to need up to 3 terms, or in some cases longer, to make lasting change. All young people are encouraged to gather at the start, snack time and at the end of the group. For the remainder of the session they can spend their time 1:1 with an adult if needed and gradually build up their time interacting with the group.
OUR CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST will carry out observations and get to know young people in order to develop plans together with one to one supporters, in some cases the young person will be involved with this process if appropriate. For some young people close liaison will be needed between Forest School, School, families and other agencies. Our Clinical Psychologist will attend meetings, where possible, or provide feedback to inform joined up plans.
