A follow on from Little Sticks, Saplings is an Inclusive Kindergarten Group 4-10 year olds. We use lots of play in a woodland setting to enable children to build resilience, improve self-esteem, develop gross and fine motor skills, learn about the natural world, build emotion regulation, reduce their level of arousal and process events in their lives through play, and much much more. The slightly older age group means we can get a bit more adventurous with the tools and bushcraft skills.
Sessions will emphasise free play and exploration. We will also have a planned activity which children can join in with as much, or as little, as they choose.
This is an inclusive group and we actively try to overcome barriers to children accessing the group. We have a limited number of enhanced support spaces which means our Psychologist is on hand to carry out observations, develop a support plan and help the parent or support worker to put this in place. We Recommend
- Water proof clothing and wellies all year round to keep the bugs and dirt out!
- For those who like to get really messy, a change of clothes for the way home might be needed!
- Not having the right gear should never be a barrier to coming along, so please let us know if you want to borrow some spares.
- Please bring a snack and a drink, its thirsty work in the woods!
