Welcome to an 8-week block of Sunday Forest School sessions, where children will explore the natural world, develop outdoor skills, build connections with each other and the environment, and learn to assess and balance their own risks and benefits to develop confidence and resilience.

Each week participants will have time in the woodland for free play, which is crucial for information processing and integration of knowledge and skills, as well as emotional regulation. They will be offered a choice to engage in various activities, including: nature walks, plant identification, games, crafts, and storytelling. In addition to nature exploration, children will also have opportunities to build shelters, start fires and cook over an open flame, as well as learn how to use the tools safely and responsibly.

This is an inclusive group and we actively try to overcome barriers to children accessing the group.

The sessions will be guided by: Dorota Kiedrowska and Emma Gibb who are working towards their level 8 Forest School leader qualifications.

Dorota is an experienced early years practitioner and mindfulness teacher. She worked at Sticks and Stones and continues to volunteer for them. Founder of Nature Minds (www.natureminds.co.uk), who is guiding forest bathing sessions for adults. Dorota provides 1-2-1 therapeutic support at OWLS (Outdoor Woodland Learning School). She’s also a mum to a teenage boy.

Emma is passionate about all things nature and regularly organises outdoor adventures for her two primary school children. Emma blogs about nature crafts and activities (www.thismother.com), and has been volunteering at Sticks and Stones since May 2021.

Join this pair of nature-loving, outdoor enthusiasts for an exciting and enriching 8-week block of forest school, where we will build a community, learn, play and grow whilst having lots of fun!

We Recommend

  • Water proof clothing and wellies all year round to keep the bugs and dirt out!
  • For those who like to get really messy, a change of clothes for the way home might be needed!
  • Not having the right gear should never be a barrier to coming along, so please let us know if you want to borrow some spares.
  • Please bring a snack and a drink, its thirsty work in the woods!
